Passenger Lists: Have Ship/Vessel name as a searchable field.
I am specifically referring to the New Zealand, Archives New Zealand, Passenger Lists, 1839-1973 (https://www.familysearch.org/search/collection/1609792) collection where it seems to be using Name as the main searchable field. Ship names have been transcribed/indexed but are not available as an advanced search option.
Sometimes people names are not the best to search by, depending on the research specifications, either with name misspellings or aliases. I am often asked for entire ship lists rather than for a specific person.

Also along the same lines, Immigration Year is not a searchable field but has also been transcribed/indexed so is available.

Before the new-and-disimproved search interface was introduced, many collections had collection-specific searches available that allowed one to search by fields specific to that index. This has been removed: only "universal" search fields are now available. This is just one of the many unfortunate consequences of the new interface.
FamilySearch, is anyone actually listening? Please stop tweaking this new mess, concede that it was a horrible idea, and give us back the old, supremely capable search interface.

Thanks, Julia. I have been using this collection for years now and I've unfortunately never seen a search by Ship option. Possibly this feature was available for other collections on the site, or predates the last 10-odd years of my use.
I certainly hope someone is checking the ideas and feedback.

I agree that we need a search field which is about ship name. Currently, we can search by birthplace and birth year, death place and death year, name, sex, and can add in mother, father, and other person. It would be so helpful if we could search for immigration or emigration year and ship name, for a person!
