Help finding memories identified as duplicate
It is very hard and time consuming to find an image that you are trying to upload, but has been identified as a duplicate that may have been previously uploaded. FamilySearch give no clue as to where the file is, that was identified as a duplicate.
It would be so easy if Family Search would allow to select the file it has identified, to allow you to tag additional people to the one already in FamilySearch.
Right now when I can't find the duplicate file by myself, I have to create as another similar image that doesn't get the error when trying to upload and tag new people to that one.
This work around has two main problems, first, it unnecessarily increases the amount of images in memories and second the new double does not have the original tags with it.

Feedback from users of FamilySearch is always welcome and appreciated. The "Suggest an Idea" category is a good place to offer your suggestions to improve the functions in Memories.
In the meantime, we have reviewed this Knowledge Article titled, "How do I arrange and filter the memories in my gallery? https://www.familysearch.org/en/help/helpcenter/article/how-do-i-arrange-and-filter-the-memories-in-my-gallery
There are some excellent suggestions that might be of help. For instance:
- To limit the type of memory that you see, click one of the five filter options across the top.
- All shows all your memory items.
- Photos (the camera icon) shows only photos.
- Stories (the open book icon) shows only stories.
- Documents (the two pieces of paper icon) shows only documents.
- Audio (the microphone icon) shows only audio files.
Also:
- Use the Arrange menu on the top right to further narrow the list of what you see:
- Newest Added shows your most recently added memories first.
- Title (A–Z) sorts items alphabetically by title. Items without titles do not show.
- No Title lists items without a title.
- Not Tagged lists items without tags.
- Not in an Album lists items not in any album.
- Private shows memories your marked Private.
- Public shows memories the public can see.
There are also more filters that can be combined with the above filters.
We hope this is of some help to you.

yeh - this quirk and deficiency has often been reported by various users
to find the duplicate one of the best ways I find them is by going to the general gallery and then searching on the FILE name.
(note however that even files that are identical except their file name is different will still be flagged as duplicate) in that case it can be a challenge if you have many hundreds or thousands of items.
