Project: Wisconsin births 1927 - 1931 (Part A) {M33-749}

When indexing the mother name, should the surname field be left blank, or can we put the father's surname in that field (married name).

    The Batch code needs an additional character. I get message (with M33-749):

    "No Batch Found

    The shared batch 'M33-749' could not be found. Please enter a valid share batch code.

    The Field Help for Mother's Surname field should indicate whether to suppose/infer married surname. Usually (in my experience) the Project/Field Help indicate not to - but there are some Projects that want you to type - Maiden name Married Name in the Mother's Surname Field.

    So it just depends on the Project/Field instructions. By the way - I cannot even locate a Project: Wisconsin births 1927 - 1931 (Part A) - I do however see Project: US, Wisconsin—Death Records, 1959–1978 (this seems to indicate not all projects are public - which I am fine with - hopefully this is a solution for fixing large portions of problem indexes with issues - i.e. need reindexing).

    Are your Weidners from Virginia or North Carolina?

    My understanding is that on these certificates, you only type the maiden name that is listed in that box. We are not to assume that the mother, married or not, took the husband's surname. That's why. On some older documents, there was a place at the bottom for one of the parents to sign their names along with their relationship to the child. These newer ones don't have that.

    @josephraymondweidner1 The field helps in the Wisconsin birth project states "Type the mother's current surname as it was written." So, if there is not a surname listed do not type the father's surname leave it blank. Thank you for helping with this project. Please check your private message.
