Living person entered as deceased
Hello,
My brother-in-law is a convert to the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints and the only member in his family, and last evening I helped him start building his family tree. His biological father left when he was five, so he considers his step-father his father (we have entered both, but marked his step-father preferred). After he entered his step-father, MWM, we discovered that his step-father's parents were already in family tree. However, whoever put them in had marked his step-father as deceased. We corrected that, but it looks like someone has to review that before it can be changed in Family Tree. Now when we look at my brother-in-law's grandparents, there are two copies of his step-father as children. I know that there isn't a way for me to merge two living people. Once the mistake is corrected, is there a way that someone at Family Search can fix this? The living copy of MWM that my brother-in-law entered is #xxx. The deceased copy that needs to be changed to living is #xxx.
Thank you!

I am just another 'lowly' User/Patron ...
Just in passing ...
You DO NOT have to worry, about the "Deceased" version, of the "Stepfather", once the 'Staus', has been "Changed", from "Deceased", to "Living".
Once the 'Staus', has been "Changed", from "Deceased", to "Living", by 'FamilySearch' "Support", that "Version", of the "Stepfather", WILL actually/automatically DISAPPEAR, from "Public" view; and, into the "Private Spaces", of the User/Patron, who "Created", the "Stepfather"; but; as, a "Living" individual/person.
There will be NO need (nor, any opportunity) to "Merge"/"Combine".
Whereas ...
IF, there are, Two (x2) "Versions", of the "Deceased" Grandparents (ie. "Stepfather's Parents) ...
Well ... that is another matter ... where, such WILL need "Merging"/"Combining" ...
Which ANY User/Patron can do ...
Just my thoughts.

Maybe there are multiple reasons why there seems to be an increasing number of reports of living persons being added with a "Deceased" status. Some users have connected this to the 1940 US census collection, but today I read that it could be connected to a Church database*. Surely the issue needs a closer investigation, so FamilySearch can continue to confirm it is doing everything possible to safeguard the privacy of the living?
