Incorrect information for an ancestor added to my tree

I recently had a look at my family tree for which I have added a limited number of persons. For my great great grandfather Daniel Sweeney (NOT Dan Sweeny) for whom I have reliable sources has been added by someone with incorrect information. In fact he seems to be a different person altogether. How can I change this. Why can I not edit my own tree?
