    Please merge the duplicate name Andrew Bragg and Andrew Christopher Bragg

    Also Andrew's sister Laura has appeared as my daughter instead of my son's daughter

    @Terry William Newman

    I eventually found an article on read-only individuals (via Google!) at https://www.familysearch.org/en/help/helpcenter/article/what-are-read-only-records-in-family-tree.

    From what is stated there, it appears you will need a moderator to escalate your issue. Hopefully - if there seems no reason why this should be a read-only ID - the status of the record will be changed (from read-only) so that you will be able to make the changes / merges yourself.

    I have not looked too closely at your cousin's details, but if he held an important position in the LDS Church this would probably have to remain as a locked record. However, there have been a number of reports posted here lately of records becoming locked for no apparent reason.

    @GwenBragg Are any of those people read only? If not, you can do the merge yourself unless they are alive. You seem to imply that Andrew Bragg may be alive. In that case, records cannot be merged. There are a couple of people, @Brett . comes to mind, who are very good and efficient at posting help articles.

    @GwenBragg

    You should be able to make any changes to deceased individuals' records yourself - including merges.

    However, when it comes to records of the living, only you can make the changes relating to those you have entered and other members of your family will have to make the changes to relatives they have entered.

    One action that cannot be taken is the merging of living persons. These have to remain as duplicates until they become deceased.

    Since this is a read-only record, you will not be able to merge these possible duplicates. We are sending your request to the department for handling this issue. If more information is needed, they will contact you. Thank you for posting your request in the community.

    @GwenBragg

    Thank you for posting in the Community about your family members. We do not make changes in Family Tree, except in special circumstances, such as read-only records. We ask our guests to do the correcting themselves, because they know their family and its makeup.

    If Andrew Bragg and Andrew Christopher Bragg are both living, use the directions below to merge them.

    You may also be able to correct the parent-child relationship by using the ID number of the child with the wrong parents.

    Good luck

    • When we look at Lewis Thorpe Wells 13 July 1907 – 5 February 1985 KWCP-Z5F, his birth place is standardized. There is no red exclamation point. Everything looks good. Are there any other problems that you have?
    • Birth
    • 13 July 1907

    True, there is no red exclamation point; however, a standardized location would read: "Salt Lake City, Salt Lake, Utah, United States." This record needs "United States" at the end of the birthplace. Nice to hear from you. --Terry
