I have a hyperlink to a record (e.g. https://familysearch.org/pal:/MM9.1.1/JD42-HZB and I would like to access and see but FamilySearch gives me a message:

We're unable to show this record to you.

This record can only be displayed on certain accounts. FamilySearch must honor the agreements we have with our partners, record owners, and internal policies

Can anyone tell me how I can get access to these records please?

Thanks. Patrick

    Welcome to the "Community.FamilySearch" Forum.

    I am just another 'lowly' User/Patron ...

    Just in passing ...

    For starters ...

    First Question ...

Short Answer: Due to "Contractual Agreements/Arrangements", between, 'FamilySearch'; and, Record Custodians.

    Second Question ...

Short Answer: Maybe, through a "Family History Centre", of the Church (or, an "Affiliate" Library)

Here are some "Knowledge Articles" in 'FamilySearch':

Why do some indexes have access limitations?

    https://www.familysearch.org/en/help/helpcenter/article/why-are-some-indexes-restricted

    https://www.familysearch.org/en/help/helpcenter/article/why-are-some-indexes-restricted

Why are there access limitations on Historical Records?

    https://www.familysearch.org/en/help/helpcenter/article/why-are-there-access-restrictions-on-historical-records

What are the image restrictions in Historical Records?

    https://www.familysearch.org/en/help/helpcenter/article/what-are-the-image-restrictions-in-historical-records

I know, that this certainly does not help/assist; but, I hope, that this may provide you with, some additional, insight; and, perspective.

    Furthermore ...

So this is what you get ...

    image.png

    .

    This is the Collection:

    England Deaths and Burials, 1538-1991

    https://www.familysearch.org/search/collection/1473016

    https://www.familysearch.org/search/collection/1473016

    And ...

Here are some 'FamilySearch' "Wiki" articles on that "Collection":

England Deaths and Burials - FamilySearch Historical Records

    https://www.familysearch.org/wiki/en/England_Deaths_and_Burials_-_FamilySearch_Historical_Records

    https://www.familysearch.org/wiki/en/England_Deaths_and_Burials_-_FamilySearch_Historical_Records

Where, it states among other things:

    Quote

    ------------------

    Image Visibility

Whenever possible FamilySearch makes images and indexes available for all users. However, rights to view these data are limited by contract and subject to change. Because of this there may be limitations on where and how images and indexes are available or who can see them. Please be aware some collections consist only of partial information indexed from the records and do not contain any images. For additional information about image restrictions see Restrictions for Viewing Images in FamilySearch Historical Record Collections.

    And ...

Restrictions for Viewing Images in FamilySearch Historical Record Collections

    https://www.familysearch.org/wiki/en/Restrictions_for_Viewing_Images_in_FamilySearch_Historical_Record_Collections

    https://www.familysearch.org/wiki/en/Restrictions_for_Viewing_Images_in_FamilySearch_Historical_Record_Collections

Where, it states among other things:

    Quote

    ------------------

Access to records is regulated by contract with the archive and business partner the data is received from. The terms of these agreements may change over time. In some cases FamilySearch does not receive permission to publish images or complete index records on our site.

Some images may only be viewed when a user is signed-in to FamilySearch. Some images may only be viewed online by members of supporting organizations. And some images are only available at family history centers.

    Thanks Brett for your input.

Yes - that is the screen that I get. There must be something contractual/agreement based here but I cannot fathom it.

The hyperlink that I used is from an original Ancestry search (and Ancestry provides some basic indexing information in its results) and the hyperlink. Interestingly, even if I transcribe the Ancestry data directly into FamilySearch, the person cannot be found in FS. So it seems as if Ancestry can see it (partially) but FS can't

There are also other persons whose data from the same source (some with images and some without) that are readily accessible to me.

    Strange

    Thanks

    Patrick

I am not connected with FamilySearch.

It seems to me possible the meaning of the restriction is that these records are viewable by LDS Church members, but not by non church members. I am aware that this has been the situation for some time for both indexes and images, although sometimes non church members can view the records at a Family History Center. However the message as worded seems to be something new.

You could try and see if you can access the record at a Family History Center. From the Wiki link for the collection given by Brett, if you click on "Known Issues" https://www.familysearch.org/wiki/en/England_Deaths_and_Burials_-_FamilySearch_Historical_Records/Known_Issues there is mention of ONE microfilm 1040361 which is in the collection https://www.familysearch.org/search/catalog/257861 and that particular microfilm may be viewed at a Family History Center or Affiliate Library. So perhaps there is a good chance the record you are interested in can also be viewed at either a Family History Center or even at an Affiliate Library
