I'm indexing the Ontario Tax records project, and sometimes want help, or a second opinion, deciphering handwriting. The current method of having to post another question with our batch ID or screenshot and wait for someone to reply is pretty cumbersome.

So I thought I'd see if people like this idea and see how well it works... Post all your screenshots in this one question thread. It will be very helpful to see lots of handwriting examples and opinions all in one place. Posting batch IDs can get you help for your batch, but posting screenshots helps those who come after you too. I use the Snipping Tool on my Windows pc, save the snip, and upload it to my post.

Here's my request for a 2nd opinion: batch ID M3DY-S99: It shows Municipality of ...

North. It is most likely Niagara Falls, North Ward. (Hint: check your reference image + 2 - this is another problem with shared batches, people can't see the reference images. I looked at the film.)

I'm not sure how it will work to have one thread, but, it is worth a try. It will appear that the question has been answered since only your post will show. But, anyone who responds will get a notification that there is a new post if another person needs help.

Thanks! Would you say I should copy the year from that reference image also? Since mine is blank.

No, you wouldn't copy the year or the place. You just have to leave those fields blank. There is work that goes into these by pre-publication teams. I think they often work on cleaning up the files by entering those types of missing data. But, the instructions don't suggest that we should use reference images to grab any data.
