How do I read a language that I can't understand?

I have an indexing record that I can't read easily and I was wondering how do I translate the entire document so that I can read it.

Sometimes in the indexing project there is a common word list for the language. Sometimes there is a FamilySearch wiki page for the language for these common words.

You can request translation through a FamilySearch Group for the area the record is from (they will likely know the language):

Some groups require you to join before allowing you to post.

You also have the option of using language translation AI/tools - such as Google translate - where you input/transcribe (digitize) the record and a resulting translation is displayed side-by-side.
