do letters designate sex

In indexing and also reviewing batches such as: M3D2-6P9 I see that sometimes in reviewing, a person has designated sex by what is written in column 4 Please look at this batch and give me guidance. Thanks

    No, that does not indicate sex. If you look at the column heading, this isn't a gender column.

    That's what I thought. Some batches I've reviewed listed male as the sex - and I blanked them - hoping I was doing it correctly. I appreciate community help!!
