If a name is shown with a diacritic mark over the last letter, Ex: Eliza, seemingly to note a short for Elizabeth, should one add the * mark to indicate more letter not shown?

The projects instructions say to type the names as they were written, do not correct misspellings or expand abbreviations. I suppose you could insert an ā if you wish, but, we index what we see like Thos, Benjn, Wm, Mgret. Since we would not index Tho*s, Benj*n, W*m, or M*gret, I don't think you should index Eliza*.
