UK, England, Diocese of Blackburn—Church of England Parish Registers, 1813–2021 [Part D][M3V4-5V6]

On this record of deaths the first person is listed as Jane, wife of William Ratcliffe. I understand that I do not put a last name for her under the deceased surname column. I understand we are NOT to assume that her last name is the same as the husband although it usually is.

Am I correct in leaving her surname "blank"?

You are correct. The field help says not to assume the surname from other surnames mentioned in the record. The same is shown on the example of how to index a burial register. There is no last name indexed for the deceased son, but, it is indexed with the parents name.

"Townley, Son of John & Hannah Edmondson"

    Given Name: Townley Surname: <blank>

    Given Name: John Surname: Edmondson

    Given Name: Hannah Surname: Edmondson

Thank you as I am doing baptismal records in the England UK records, this answered my question also. I have been correcting or leaving it blank as well.
