Canada, Ontario—Tax Assessment Records, 1834–1899 [Part D][M3DV-6FB]

Unsure how to enter Ancaster School Section Wr08. It is the name listed following "Municipality of...." but it is not a municipality. Should I list just "Ancaster" and forget School Section or should I list Ancaster School Section Wr08 as the municipality?

BTW if you can give me your thoughts on the Wr08? Am I reading that right? Does it really matter? Do I need to include that?

Hi Clayne. I would only index Ancaster as the City. The latter part "School Section No 8" will be seen when a researcher finds the image. I would consider that part a "district" and it says in the field helps it says not to index districts or wards.

It is an interesting form. Thanks for sharing it! I am in the US, but, it kind of looks the same as my tax bill where they show the amount paid to the schools and any special rates assessed to pay for the schools (like extra bonds or levies that we vote on). Then they also had a dog tax ($1.00 per dog). We have annual license fees for our dogs. Learn something new every day in indexing!

@Clayne Steed I looked up Ancaster Ontario Canada on Google - it is a historic town within the city of Hamilton -- 😎 also Ancaster is listed on one of the Project Instruction Samples
