How long can you hold a batch?

I havnt held on to a batch long enough for the site to recall it, but Ive always wondered how long it will let you reserve that batch.

Also, Is it a set time for all batches, or is it different times for different types of records? Ive wondered if the countdown for the time starts from the moment that it gets checked out first, or just when there is inactivity? Because I can see someone keeping the same long batch for days just doing a few names every other day and resetting that time, if thats how the system is set right now.

Thanks so much for any help🙂

Hi Colin! The moment you check out the batch, the clock starts ticking. Different projects have different time limits, but it seems like 7 days is pretty standard. The reason behind the time limit is to keep the projects moving along, so it would be counterproductive to have the program keep resetting every time someone entered a couple of names. The longest I have seen is a 10 day time limit for a project like City Directories with 300-600 names or some of the advanced projects that are difficult - like the Nonconformist Records sometimes.

And to clarify. There is nothing the indexer can do to reset the timer.
