Joined and re-joined muster rolls
United States—Enlisted and Officer Muster Rolls and Rosters, 1916–1939 [Part N][M3JZ-XC2]
I accidentally submitted the last page on had this question on so I will try it again.
On this muster roll it has "joined" and "re-joined" with dates by the side of some of the servicemen. Is this the same as an "enlistment" or "re-enlistment" date?
Do I use the "joined" date or the muster roll date for these servicemen?

Hi Janet. For the record, as you know from the answer to another version of this question, the “joined” and “re-joined” dates are relative to a particular military unit, and not to the whole military service (enlisted and re-enlisted dates). They are not equivalent. So, the muster roll or roster date would be used for service people with only “joined” or “re-joined” dates next to their names.

@John Empoliti Thanks as well. I never recorded the joined date because it wasnt expressly stated as an enlisted one, but I actually didnt know what the difference was between joined and enlisted until now.🙂
