Trouble merging my own index ID's. Help!
Somehow, when I joined Family Search in 2015, I seem to have created 2 Index ID's. One is more thoroughly developed than the other, but both link me to my ancestors. Also in both I am my own daughter!!
I'd like to merge in such a way as to keep the more developed index ID. However, the 'switch' tab is not available when I try to merge, and I'm only given the option of keeping the less developed ID. Do I have to merge then redo the work of adding my husband and children? And can I remove myself from being my own child?

Just in passing ...
As far as I was aware, 'FamilySearch' can NO LONGER "Merge"/"Combine" different 'FamilySearch' Accounts.
[ NOT even those, of the SAME User/Patron ... ]
Basically ...
You need to choose the Account that you want to keep ...
"Copy"; or, "Transfer", ALL the pertinent DATA, from the Account, that you DO NOT want to keep, to the Account, that you do want to keep.
You will have to "Manually" create ANY "Living" individuals/persons, that exist in the Account, that you DO NOT want to keep, in the Account, that you DO NOT want to keep.
An easy way to do such, is by using and having two (x2) different "Browsers" OPEN, at the same time; where, you can "Copy" and "Paste", between the two Accounts (between the two "Browsers").
Once, that is ALL done; THEN, "Close" the Account, that you DO NOT want to keep.
Or, you could keep the Account, that you DO NOT need, "Open"; as, a "Back-Up"; but, that is not always a good idea; as, many people get confused between the Accounts.
Just my thoughts.

I think the two IDs for yourself can be merged - it's just that they need to be merged in the correct order.
If you sign into FamilySearch and go to the page for yourself. It doesn't matter at this stage which ID you go to.
Click the Recents tab (up the top of the screen).
The top ID listed for yourself is the "root" person. This is the ID that was used to create your account in the first place so this ID can not be deleted.
The second ID for yourself is the "starting" person for your tree.
What we need to do is merge the two IDs. When we merge, all of the relationships that you have already entered will end up correct. You won't need to re-add the relationships.
Write down the first ID - the "root" ID.
From the Recents list go to the ID which is second on the list.
Choose Merge by ID (in the right hand side column - you may need to scroll down a bit)
When asked for the ID enter the ID that you wrote down - the "root" ID. After you click Continue twice hopefully you will see a message up the top "These 2 people can be merged but only in this order".
Continue through the merge making sure that that your spouse, children and parents are all moved to the right hand side ID.

And, I stand corrected if I am wrong ...
Separate; and, distinct, 'FamilySearch Person Identifiers' (PIDs), of the SAME ("Living") User/Patron, with; and, in, DIFFERENT, 'FamilySearch' Accounts, CANNOT be "Merged"/"Combined".
As, they each, will reside, in the "Private Spaces", of the respective 'FamilySearch' Accounts.
[ Despite, being the SAME ("Living") User/Patron ... ]
Unless, things have dramatically "Changed" ...
Otherwise, I would be "Merging"/"Combining" the various "Living" DUPLICATES, of the "Living" ME ...
[ That I know of ... ]

Hi @Brett .
I think that lauriezwilson may have two IDs for him/herself in the same account.
The question indicated that he/she wasn't able to switch position during the merge. So I took that to mean that he could see the two IDs. The merge just has to be done in the correct order as the root ID can not be deleted.
I bit of a guess.

Thank you all so much for your advise. Yes, I only have one account. But now I understand that the 'root' ID is (unfortunately) my less developed tree, but is also the only ID I may keep. So, if I merge them, I will need to redo my work.
These are the mistakes I made on the first day I used Family Search, back in 2015. Thanks again for all your advise!

O.K. Right ...
SAME 'FamilySearch' Account; but, TWO (x2) 'FamilySearch Person Identifiers' (PIDs) for yourself ...
[ ie. As, the User/Patron ... ]
Provided, that both, PIDs of you are "Living"; and, should reside, in the "Private Spaces" of your 'FamilySearch' Account.
Then, you SHOULD be able to successfully "Merge"/"Combine" them together into one.
And, NOT actually loose ANY "Work" ...
'Yes', the "Root" individual/person, WILL have to be the individual/person, that "Survives"; but, that should NOT make you loose any "Work"; whereas, maybe, something OTHER individuals/person will need to be "Merged"/"Combined".
When we "Merge"/"Combine", NOTHING is LOST, it just get 'Moved Around' ...

If during the merge, you move every bit of information from the left side of the screen to the right side of the screen, then you will basically do the same thing as switching the merge order and will preserve all the information from the more developed profile, including all relationships.
In other words, start the merge then go down the left hand side of the page and click on every right-ward pointing arrow and Replace you see, turning as much of the right side green as possible.
To remove yourself as you own daughter, go the the Family Members section and move people around so you can see yourself as both mother and daughter. It doesn't matter whether this is on the left or right of the section. Then click on the pencil and paper icon next to you, and this is very important, as the daughter. Then work through removing yourself from the family.
