Hello,

I found documents about the failed emigration attempt in the US of my grandfather in the year 1920/21. On those documents the outcome of his attempt is laconically defined as "debarred". Is it possible to better know the reason of this rejecton?

1) On the passenger list is written: "debbared Jan 12 1921 remained in Canada" ("United States Border Crossings from Canada to United States, 1895-1956", database, FamilySearch (https://familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:X2GG-63P : 13 November 2019), Selestino Elia, 1920.)

2) On the "Vermont St. Albans Canadian Border Crossing" document (https://familysearch.org/ark:/61903/3:1:3QS7-99D3-R9Z7-F ) on right corner is written "debarred" but inside the form, in the box "Ever arrested and deported or excluded from admission" is written "No".

He should have gone to Joilet, Illinois, to meet his friend Giovanni Anselmino but he got back home... luckly for me, I would never have been born!

Right after 121 years I would like to know how it went......😁

Thanks for all your efforts!

Roberto Elia
