Why does Milwaukee city have duplicate standardized places
When I want to select Milwaukee (city), Wisconsin, as a standardized place for a residence in 1905 there are two suggestions that cover the year 1905:
Milwaukee, Milwaukee, Wisconsin, United States; City, 1848-Present
Milwaukee, Milwaukee, Wisconsin, United States; City, 1848-1955
This is confusing and I don't know which one to select. This seems to be an error in the standardized places.
1) Either the "1848-1955" place should be removed as "1848-Present" covers the same years.
2) Or, the "1848-Present" place should be changed to be "1956-Present", if there is a real difference between the city in two year ranges.
3) Or, the "1848-1955" place should be described as something other than "City".
Thanks, Eric

This issue is clearly a problem with the standardized place entries. When such issues arise, please go to https://www.familysearch.org/research/places/, navigate to the place that has errors and then click on "Improve This Place". You will be able to fill in an online form to suggest improvements. FamilySearch employees and Volunteer place editors will be able to review the suggestions and make changes.
I have merged these two descriptions of Milwaukee (city), so that there is now only one entry describing Milwaukee in 1905.

Thank you for posting in the community about Milwaukee (city), Wisconsin, as a standardized place for a residence in 1905 there are two suggestions that cover the year 1905:
Milwaukee, Milwaukee, Wisconsin, United States; City, 1848-Present
Milwaukee, Milwaukee, Wisconsin, United States; City, 1848-1955
There have been source collections added to the database for each of the place names, depending on which agency created the source. It doesn't make any difference which standardized place choice you make.
Hope this helps.
