Trying to locate records from Stuttgart, Germany - early 17th century
I recently started working with records in Stuttgart, having previously worked on villages around Stuttgart. The number of record volumes in Stuttgart are quite bewildering, and I am hoping I can find a mapping that explains how the church books, the FHL numbers and the Collection titles correlate. I am specifically interested in Church volume 43, the Burial register of Stuttgart (Stiftskirche) 1579-1629. It was indexed in the 1920s, and the index is available under FHL 1055693, but it includes only adults, and I would like to see if I can locate two specific records of young children. Does anyone know if the register is available, and what its FHL number might be?
Thank you!

Film 1055693 is part of the collection Kirchenbuch, 1500-1903 from Evangelische Kirche. Stiftskirche Stuttgart

There are no FS microfilms for deaths 1579-1629, or indeed any before 1697, as listed in the catalog entry. The original filming was done 1965, so even back then the records may not have survived, or else were too fragile to film.
Perhaps you could contact the Archive, Evangelischen Landeskirchenamt Stuttgart, to see if the records you are interested in still exist, and is so, whether they are accessible.

The register images for Stuttgart are on archion.de (paid registration required). The good news is that the cataloging follows what's visible on FS, that is, if you scroll down under Stuttgart, you get to Totenregister 1579-1629 Band 43, which is Württemberg: Landeskirchliches Archiv Stuttgart > Dekanat Stuttgart > Stuttgart, Stiftskirche.

Thank you! I had hoped that Ancestry.com or FS might have these records, as they have so many others of Stuttgart. I'll check out archion.de.
