Need translation help (Portuguese or Latin into English)
Hi all,
I am doing research in my family history. My ancestor was baptised in St Joseph Church Singapore (Portuguese mission) in 1888. I found his baptism certificate but it is written in either Portuguese or Latin. Can anyone help me to translate all the words? His name is Thomas Glass, and his father's name, is Louis Robertson Glass. I can decipher these 2 names from the document, but nothing else as I do not understand the language. I will greatly appreciate anyone's help.
Thank you very much.

@GeorgianaGlass It would be most helpful if you would supply the URL of the page. I realize that the record comes from a browse-only record set, but there is still a URL to the page. Having that will allow us to zoom and compare to other handwriting on the page or adjacent pages.

It's Portuguese. (It has some similarities to Latin, but unfortunately they're not enough for me to decipher the handwriting. Maybe if it were typewritten....)

Welcome to the "Community.FamilySearch" Forum.
I am just another 'lowly' User/Patron ...
Just in passing ...
IF, the Language, is "Portuguese"; THEN, ...
And, not that I can be of any help/assistance ...
But ...
That Said ...
IF, you have not already; THEN, ...
You may wish to consider, "Joining"; and, submitting a "Request", for "Translation", in one of the 'Groups', in the "Groups" Section, of this Forum.
Please be aware, that one must "Join" a 'Group', to submit a post, in a 'Group'.
The members of the 'Groups', are only too willing to help/assist, where that can.
I would humbly suggest, that one 'Group', that you may wish to consider is:
"Groups" Section
HOME > GROUPS > FAMILYSEARCH – PORTUGAL
FamilySearch – Portugal
https://community.familysearch.org/en/group/75-familysearch-portugal
Description:
Serve este grupo para unir esforços; para ajudar e ser ajudado; para compartilhar recursos; ideias para actividades e conhecimentos com todos aqueles que desejam conhecer os seus antepassados!
------------------
Translation:
Serves this group to join efforts; to help and be helped; to share resources; ideas for activities and knowledge with all those who want to know their ancestors!
------------------
As an aside ...
You can use the likes of any "Translation" programme/application (eg. 'Google' "Translate"; etc), to post.
Just my thoughts.
Good Luck.
I hope, that this may just provide you, with another option, to seek help/assistance.

I can get most of it, but being able to enlarge and compare to other records would make it MUCH easier. Some of the records in that same register are very clear. Such records are generally formulaic, and once you've deciphered one, the rest are easy.
