Images Restricted to Partner Site/Record Custodian?

Hello,

I was hoping to figure out where to find any available images of the Evangelical church records from Lohne, Kreis Soest, Germany. Usually when I click on the image format, I am informed that I can gain access to the images at a family history center or partner library, but this is not the case here. It seems access is restricted and available only at a partner site or with a record custodian, but no specific entity is specified. Is there a way to find out which company/archive/organization's website would allow me to access these images? The specific film I am looking for is FHL #584527/DGS #8206238.

I believe these records can be viewed (for a fee) on archion.de (https://www.archion.de/de/suche/?tx_sparchiondocuments_spsearch%5Baction%5D=list&tx_sparchiondocuments_spsearch%5Bcontroller%5D=Search&cHash=319ecd318aafaf37fcee3de55d0ef37d#searchResult).

I just took a 'look' for that FHL Film in the 'FamilySearch' "Catalogue" ...

Short Answer: Maybe, in the "WorldCat" [ie. World Catalogue ], if you "enter or re-enter your location" ...

If you have a friend who is a LDS church member, they perhaps may be able to access these records for you, on an unofficial basis. However, I believe church "officials" (in a wide sense) have been instructed not to give copies.

Otherwise, the original archive is stated to be "Evangelischen Landeskirchenamt Bielefeld" which perhaps you could try contacting.

This message means that users of your religion (i.e. either Latter Day Saint or not) and from your country are not able to view the film regardless of whether you view the records from home, an Affiliate Library or a FHC. When a non-LDS sees it, it is usually a euphemism/"double-speak" that means only Latter Day Saints have access. That means trying to access the records through the record custodian or another website is your only hope of getting online access.

You could also try the FHL Lookup Service: https://www.familysearch.org/en/family-history-library/family-history-library-records-look-up-service This service is intended for situations where you have an Index entry, or name/date but can't view the original images. They are not likely to have time to browse through many images looking for a particular name (But it doesn't hurt to ask).

You should also try Archion.de Most German Protestant records are now available there. Because it is a subscription website, the record owners impose restrictions to ensure people don't use FamilySearch as a way to avoid paying subscription fees to Archion.

@Brett . was using a LDS account in his post (because he has redacted the Temple menu, which only appears to Latter Day Saints). The fact the message appears implies that some groups of FS users must be able to view the film. If no one could, then the film reel symbol would appear and users would be directed to use the physical microfilm. My guess is that there are geographical restrictions- note the comment in the Catalog about access in Europe. It may be that in Europe, LDS users have access, and that outside Europe no users have access.
