How do I limit the search results to the filters applied
I am new to this app. I am wanting to return only the death records for a certain period in the UK. The only filter that seems to work is the location. i.e. Lancashire. I select death records between years x and y and get all records for a date range of a hundred years or so, including birth and marriage records. This is 245 pages of 20 results and no matter how I apply different criteria, e.g. birth records I get the same 245 pages. It doesn't even start with the death records so you have to scroll through hundreds of records to find what you are looking for. So the filters are just not working as far as I can see. Very disappointing and basically unusable unless I can find a way to make this work. if I enter my own name, very specific birth date and location I still get 245 pages of 20 records some with birth dates in the 19th century. Why?

I looked at the example of a John Wilson who died in Lancashire between 1840 & 1850. Checking the "Exact" boxes against each field produced 343 results, which all seem to relate to Lancashire deaths / burials within that time period. See https://www.familysearch.org/search/record/results?count=20&q.deathLikeDate.from=1840&q.deathLikeDate.to=1850&q.deathLikePlace=lancashire&q.deathLikePlace.exact=on&q.givenName=john&q.givenName.exact=on&q.surname=wilson&q.surname.exact=on
If you then click on "Collection" (top left of the Search page), on the right side of the page you will get a breakdown of these records. This will enable you to choose records from specific collections.
However, by opting to check all the Exact boxes (as illustrated via the above link) there should be no problem in cutting out unwanted results, involving records for death / burial events outside the set period. Make sure you delete any birth / marriage details you might have inputted / carried over (from the Person page), as this will cause events outside the period to be included.
To clarify, whether it is a birth, death, marriage or census record you are looking for, it is always best to search on / for one type of event at a time.

After you get your search results, little places to click, starting with the word "Collection. " Death is one of the options, Residence is the other. So make sure your search criteria has a residence (or death) location filled in, and then click "death" to apply the filter.
