Regarding the forthcoming 1950 US Federal Census

Is FamilySearch not planning to conduct a special indexing project but will just treat it as an ordinary indexing effort? The OCR scanned index that will be provided by NARA is bound to be full of errors and will need to be carefully gone over.

    @Dick Hoffman_1

    Below is a link to a FamilySearch Blog article about the 1950 Census:

    https://www.familysearch.org/en/info/us-census/1950-census/

    The article states, "Be among the first to know when the 1950 U.S. Census is released, so you can find your ancestors and to help make the experience available to others."

    Through this link, you will be given the opportunity to sign up to receive updates about the release of the census. We hope this article will help answer your questions regarding how FamilySearch will be involved.

    Best wishes.

    I am signed up to receive these updates but that doesn't answer my question. I feel that the OCR scanning will not result in a satisfactory index and some organization needs to lead an effort to correct the volume of errors that will be in the index NARA provides. Now is the time to begin preparing for that effort.
