I have a burial record where the age of the person buried is listed as 'infant'. How do I enter the death age?

Please, post the batch code or batch ID number with your question.

When an infant dies, his age is shown as zero, if not age is showing for his death.

We do not use the term infant to determine age. We can only use the term stillborn to indicate the age of Zero. If the age, a fraction of a year, or the word stillborn, was NOT recorded, then the field is blank.

From the field helps: "If less than 1 year was recorded or a child was stillborn, type the age as 0 (zero). Do not calculate the age from other information on the document."

This is because Infant can refer to anyone who hasn't reached the age of majority, or in other words, a minor child. This is especially true in these old burial records where the term infant is often used.

The batch code is the series of Letters/Numbers in brackets that follows that project title, like this: UK, England, Lancashire—Nonconformist Church Records, 1647–1996 [Part B][MSLY-7GF]

There are three ways to share a batch, preferably with you first post or later as a comment:

Click on the third icon from the right and copy and paste the link or the batch code that appears.

Copy and paste the title of the project and the batch code that follows from the top of your screen.

If you cannot copy and paste, just type the code.

I've indexed records where it indicated "Infant" and the age was 4, 8, 16.... Melissa's correct. We can't determine that an infant is under a year old if it's not stated.
