working Zimbabwe—Voter Registration, 1938–1973 [Part B M3HS-9B4

Everything in this project seems straight forward except the registration place. The instructions say:

The registration place may be indicated either at the top of the first page of the document or with the claimant's signature of declaration on the last page of the voter registration packet. If, and only if, the registration place was not written elsewhere on the document, index the registration place stamped on the document. On claim for transfer documents, index the electoral district to which the record is being transferred, along with the country, if listed, in this field.

Th question arises because most of the document were used for multiple purposes, original registration, later transfers, and death notice and removal of vote. The question becomes which registration place, out of the many listed, crossed out and relisted, should be entered in the field? Many times there is one place listed at the top and a different place at the bottom.

This batch is not too bad but image 4 is an example of multiple choices.

The examples in the instructions do not cover any of this.

Any help on this would be appreciated

@LarryClark43 When looking at the form it was stamped as Gwelotown. I think what you indexed was correct, but you would not need the GL16 or Gokwe per page five, which only acknowledges (Gwelo, Southern Rhodesia). I would index it Gwelo, Southern Rhodesia since the Gwelotown was crossed out.

Thank you for reading my humble opinion.

@LarryClark43 I started indexing this project from its beginning, did the first 1%, and then set it to the side because of the same problem. I didn't know whether I was correct in what I was indexing, although as you stated it seems pretty straightforward. In this case, I would index what I see, what has been crossed out and replaced, and for the place, I would index Gwelotown, Southern Rhodesia.

Hope this helps and thank you for volunteering. Happy Holidays!!!

Sorry, Marian McDonald_1 I am not sure I am clear on your answer. Does that mean what I had entered, which was, (Gwelo GL16, Gokwe, Southern Rhodesia) would be incorrect or that it is just incomplete and that I should add Gwelo town along with what I had already entered?
