How to make photos appear in a certain order on the "Memories" Tab
Hello! Is it possible to change the order that "Photos" appear in the "Memories" section of a Person's profile?
To elaborate... I uploaded 16 photos to the "Sources" tab of a Person's profile (see here - Andrea di Gennaro: https://www.familysearch.org/tree/person/details/GDCB-545). I then went to "Memories" and selected multiple photos from the Gallery... but when I did that, the photos ended up being displayed very out of order in the "Memories" section (even though they appear in the correct order in the "Sources" tab).
I also tried creating an "Album" for these photos. I was able to organize the photos properly in the album... but when I went through and tagged Andrea di Gennaro in each picture (in order), the photos were still completely out of order on his "Memories" tab.
I would really like these photos to appear in order on the Memories tab. His marriage record is 12 pages long - I would like people to be able to view the Marriage Record in order, from Page 1 to Page 12. Instead, it looks like an absolute mess on the Memories tab since it's out of order.
Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks so much! :)
Tony

Thank you for your question in the Community about the order of photos, and the order they show. The Gallery shows .jpg photos in the order they are added. To add the photos in order, you might wish to try the following section from the Help Center article.
Using the instructions below, you can upload multiple photos at the same time:
- To select a consecutive range of photos, find and click the first photo.
- Press down the Shift button on your keyboard.
- With the Shift button pressed down, click the last photo in the range of photos that you want to upload.
- You should see a list of attachments that are highlighted, ready to be uploaded. Follow the onscreen prompts to finish uploading the photos.
- To select nonconsecutive photos from a folder, find and click the first photo.
- Press and hold down the Control button (Ctrl).
- With the Control button pressed down, click all of the photos that you want to upload. Then follow the onscreen prompts to finish uploading the photos.
Wishing you success.

Hi Sanra! Thanks so much for your response!
Unfortunately, I uploaded all of my photos in a very specific order to the Gallery (one at a time!), but FamilySearch.org kept changing the order! I did this multiple times - at first, I thought the error was on my end, so I deleted all photos. I then reuploaded them very carefully, in order, but the order of my photos were once again changed.
You can take a look at the Gallery for my 6th-Great-Grandfather here: https://www.familysearch.org/tree/person/memories/GDCB-545 As you can see, all photos are out of order (i.e. the Marriage Record pictures should be ordered from 1 to 12, just as I uploaded them, but they're all out of order).
On the other hand, I also uploaded all photos to the "Sources" Tab. There, my photos appeared in the exact order I uploaded them: https://www.familysearch.org/tree/person/sources/GDCB-545 It's only the "Memories" tab that keeps changing the order of my photos.
Do you know of any way to fix this? Thanks so much again for your help! :)

Hello @Tony DeGennaro
In Family Tree, a person's memories appear in the order they were added. You cannot currently change that order. See this article: https://www.familysearch.org/en/help/helpcenter/article/how-do-i-upload-photos-or-documents-to-memories.
Multi-page documents should be scanned and saved in pdf format. See the same article, above.
The formats and the file size limits are below:
- For documents, .pdf file formats up to 15MB. Other document formats such as .doc and .docx files will need to be converted to .pdf before they can be uploaded.
- For Photos, .jpg, .png, .tif, and .bmp file formats up to 15MB.
Note: Please be aware that .pdf is the only supported file type that can include multiple pages.

Tony,
The above article link MNuttall added above says " In Family Tree, a person's memories appear in the order they were added. You cannot currently change that order." It might work to upload them in reverse order, doing number 12 first, 11 second, ... to 1. However this would create a lot of work for you.

also be wary of the exact "semantics" you use.
i.e. the word "Gallery" is not the name for the place where you see the photos linked to a specific person.
that is simply the memories tab for that person - where currently there is no way to change order other than what has been shared.
Your true "gallery" is a compilation of ALL your uploaded items which you get to by clicking on your top level "Memories" category and then "GALLERY".

You actually can create a FOLDER (called an ALBUM) in your main gallery and populate it with the items in question
and for that album you can actually change the order
BUT what you are requesting specifically (order of memories items linked to an individual) is not currently designed to work that way and is one of the MOST COMMONLY requested changes to FS
and has been on the list of requested updates for a very extended period of time . . . we are still waiting .

Hello @Tony DeGennaro
Just to recap for you, the best way to capture a large and detailed document such as the 12-pg marriage record you mention is to make it into a pdf document by scanning or some other method that is available to you. That way the order and any accompanying images, signatures and all details found on the original are captured flawlessly and retain all order and formatting. Any complex or detailed document, book, even photo album can be handled this way and the size limit of the file is much larger than some of the other formats per individual submissions.
Here is a link to give you additional details and instructions.
We hope that you have the help you need from all these responses and wish you the very best this Christmas season.

I love PDF is a free on line utility that does allow for converting a group of images into a single PDF
as well s compressing it so that it falls under the 15MB FS max file size.
you can also simply select multiple image files on your PC and do a "Print to PDF"
