Correcting a primary source record
I'm asking this here because I can't find a more appropiate place to ask. The "CONTACT US" reference just keeps going in circles.
In 1873 my gg grandfather, Otto Leopold Schroeter, who was born in Germany, and two daughters, traveled to Germany to visit relatives. On 13 Aug 1873 they boarded the Ship "Silesia" in Hamburg for their return trip. On 28 Aug 1873 they arrived at the port of New York and continued their trip home to Wisconsin.
The date of "1873" is without question. The ships arriving at port, both before and after, indicate the year to be 1873. Your web page showing a search for Otto Leopold Schroeter brings up the event displays an incorrect date showing the year as 1878. This is understandable considering the date on the lead page of the manifest of the ship "could" be seen as 1878, rather than 1873.
Is it possible for this date to be changed on your "Family Search" records page?
Thank you. Robert

I presume you're talking about this index entry? https://www.familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:QVPK-7FQ8
(Gah. Getting the new-and-disimproved search interface to cough that up was a chore and a half, involving visits to Steve Morse's site and the Ellis Island site.)
The arrival date is editable in this index. Click the Edit button (bottom middle of the black stripe across the top) and choose the date in order to correct it.
Keep in mind, though, that index entries like this one are not the data. They are merely finding aids for the data. If you found the record, then the index served its purpose.
