Monthly report submission
After filling out the FHC monthly report, and clicking submit, the next page appears and says Thank You! Statistic was successfully created. Survey Complete! A link is presented “Go to Familysearch.org” Clicking that brings up a page saying the information you’re about to submit is not secure – after clicking on “send anyway,” the next page is a 404 error “Well, this is unexpected...We can help you search literally billions of records, but we can't seem to find the page you're looking for.”
As a result, we have submitted duplicate reports in the thought that something went wrong. Later, an email confirmation appears and we learn that most of the time it did go through.
Does anyone else experience this issue? If this is operator error, what can be done to avoid it? If this is a system problem, can it be addressed and fixed - it is misleading and confusing?

Thank you for your question. Based on the information provided, your report was submitted successfully. I believe the problem experienced when you go to FamilySearch.org then a page returned with a 404 error “Well, this is unexpected. This can occur so please make sure you are signed in to FamilySearch by clicking the Sign In button. You will then be connected to FamilySearch.org properly or present you with a sign in window, once signed in you will be connected.
I hope this helps. If you have further questions please let us know.

I was signed in properly.

Thanks for your response. I am sure you were signed in but it happened to me too from time to time when I navigate from one page to next I get the error. When I clicked the Sign In button while on the error page I immediately connected to the intended page or a Sign In window appeared then I filled in my sign in details and connected.
May I ask? What did you do next when you were presented with that error page?

I clicked the reload button a couple of times (nothing seemed to happen the first time), then I went back and resubmitted the report.
If the report is submitted when clicking submit, then the link saying go to family search should not warn that the information one is about to submit is not secure and provide a link saying submit anyway. If it is only submitted when when clicking submit anyway, there should simply be an acknowledgement that it was sent. If the first submit button actually transmits the report, then instead of saying the statistic was successfully completed, it perhaps should say submitted or posted, or something like that.
Once signed in, is one required to continuously sign in on every page in a process? That makes no sense - if verified when beginning an action, that verification should carry through as long as one in working in that session of FS.

You don't have to sign in every page you visit (you are signed in through out your session) but on rare occasions when one encounters this 404 error “Well, this is unexpected due to whatever reason, your best option is to check if Sign In button is available to you on the right hand column. If so, click Sign In. This tends to resolve the issue.
However, I will request our FS Technical Team to look at your comments and see if anything the engineers can do to improve the submission process.
Thank you for bringing this to the attention of FamilySearch.
