Somehow duplicates of my grandparents and great grandparents have been added in the 2x’s great grandparents and the 3x’s great grandparents positions in the tree, and I can’t delete them, or even merge them together. Any help on how to correct this would be greatly appreciated!

First detach these duplicates from the family. Then you can merge them.

    Hello @JamesWhite818

Thank you for posting your question here in the community. If you could provide some ID numbers for the individuals who have duplicates we will be able to help you. With the ID numbers we can see where the problem lies and give a more accurate solution.

@JamesWhite818 , it sounds like you might be dealing with a pedigree loop (where a person appears both as a parent and child of someone) or with duplicate relationships (for example, where a child is joined twice to the same father--this may happen as a result of a merge).

You actually don't need to detach a record from a family in order to merge it. The fact that you can't merge indicates that something else is going on. As WJRoth said, it would help to have ID numbers. Screenshots would help too.

    Thanks!

    Kathryn
