Only one parent listed in the mother and father box
I'm working on some baptism records from UK, England, Diocese of Blackburn—Church of England Parish Registers, 1813-2021 [Part C][M3JN-HH1]. In the scanned records, there is a box for both parents' given names to be written and then I write their names in the mother and father places on the side.
On this particular document, there is only one name listed in the parent column. It could be "Nancy," but it also looks a lot like "Naucy," which I looked up and found out is a real name. I saw "Naucy" listed as a name that could be for either gender. Nancy is generally feminine today, but I wouldn't find it particularly strange to meet a boy named Nancy. Besides, this was the 1800s, so I haven't got a clue what they would do with it back then.
The point is that I can't figure out what the name is or whether it's a mother or a father. Should I be putting it in a default box (like should I just put it under "father's given names"?) or should I mark the parent name text boxes specially in some way?
The best way to get the most accurate answer is to share the batch code which is the series of numbers/letters in brackets following the project title.0
