Why would a child be deleted?

On October 2, 2018, Family Search deleted a child (James Hickerson K8SB-G1F) from the record of Helen Melissa Winters and James Marion Francis Hickerson. According to several records (Find a Grave, Among the Remnant Who Lingered by Beth Radmall Olsen, record book of the Fairview Pioneer Cemetery located in the Fairview Museum of History and Art in Fairview, Utah, and "Life of Helen Winters Hickerson" found in the Memories section of her FS page), the child did exist. The discrepancy seems to be in his birthyear. Two records agree on 1875 but another says 1876.

ONLY someone in 'FamilySearch' would be able to advise on such ...

As, the NEW "Version" of his Mother, Helen Melissa WINTERS ( LKVY-W4C ), is a "Read-Only" Person.

Because, her SECOND Spouse / Husband, Orson HYDE ( KWJ8-PD4 ) [ A Leader in the EARLY Church ... ]

As such, the work can ONLY be undertaken by 'FamilySearch'.

It is certainly disappointing, that whoever it was in 'FamilySearch', made Helen Melissa WINTERS ( LKVY-W4C ) the "Surviving" (Record) individual/person, in the "Merge"/"Combine" (in 2015), INSTEAD of taking the time and effort to make the OLDER (and, ORIGINAL) "Version" of his Mother, Helen Melissa WINTERS ( K2WV-MFY ), the "Surviving" (Record) individual/person.

Perhaps, the work shown, in that aforementioned "Merged"/"Combine", was a contributory factor, in regard to the "Deletion" (2018) of the Child, James HICKERSON ( K8SB-G1F ).

IF, you have any EVIDENCE that the Child, James HICKERSON ( K8SB-G1F ) DID actually exist, with those Parent; THEN, ...

Question:

Have you tried to "Restore", the Child, James HICKERSON ( K8SB-G1F ); and, add such evidence that you have available.

Worth a go ...

You may certainly have a problem/issue, with such; as, the NEW "Version" of his Mother, Helen Melissa WINTERS ( LKVY-W4C ), is a "Read-Only" Person.

In such a case, that will MOST likely, NEED to be actioned, by 'FamilySearch'.

Hopefully, perhaps, a "Moderator" [ ie. 'FamilySearch' "Support" ( Personnel) ], in this "Community.FamilySearch" Forum, will take this post, into the workings of 'FamilySearch' "Support", for the whole matter, of the "Deletion", the Child, James HICKERSON ( K8SB-G1F ), can be FULLY investigated - to confirm for certain whether or not, the Child, James HICKERSON ( K8SB-G1F ) existed; and, was actually associated to those particular Parents.

Thanks for your suggestions. I went ahead and restored the child but I can only attach him to his father, not the mother whose file is Read Only.
