How can I edit mis-spelled data on FamilySearch?
My particular interest right now is my ancestors lives in Fiji which is proving very difficult to button down perhaps due to a great deal of data input that has been wildly mis-spelled. Not on individual family trees, but in the actual data that was typed into the FamilySearch data bank. How can I correct these?

Hi Ronalyn.
How can you correct the data that was typed into the FamilySearch databank? An impossible task, I think, because of where the data comes from.
If you click on the green FamilySearch tree icon, scroll to the bottom of the page, then click on the About it will take you to this page:
It tells you there : FamilySearch is dedicated to preserving important family records and making them freely accessible online. Our work is worldwide and has involved collaborations with more than 10,000 archives and partners in over 100 countries.
So add to that, the contributions made by family members adding names - you can see what a daunting task this is.
So - what can YOU do to make corrections for names for Fijians, when perhaps there was no standard name created for them?
- Find the original records of birth, deaths and marriages. These MAY be able to help you find the correct spelling of names
- Locate other government produced records - such as census records, military records, records of occupation.
- Talk/discuss with current family members to obtain a concensus
Hopefully other Community members can think of other places where names would be kept, being mindful that the correct spelling would depend on the English translation of the Fijian language.
Difficult!
