Make searching with a wildcard as easy as it was before

I believe there might have been the occasional instance with the previous search routine where an error message was produced if a wildcard was included in a name. Under the revised "Search" I have found the use of a wildcard is not "well received".

Even if, say, a surname was completely omitted in the past, a few hits on "Search" would usually take away any error message.

I have discovered that to get a wildcard search to "work" (once it has been rejected by the new algorithm) one now has to refresh the page, instead of persevering with multiple clicks on "Search".

This is a definite step backward, so it would help if the engineers could tweak the current algorithm to make it as easy to search with wildcards (or even an empty name field) as it was in the past.

To clarify, this type of search does work first time on occasions, but not nearly as consistently as before.
