UK, England, Middlesex—Parish Registers, 1539–1988 [Part A] [MSF2-KMZ] Incomplete entry

Please could someone advise how to index the first entry for 11th April in these baptism records. The information just says "James & Lucy Child of went away. "

The indexer has indexed two children - one James Child and one Lucy Child with the baptism date and no other information. Is this correct? I was not sure the "child" was actually the surname, or the description of their status. The word "child" has a superscript letter straight after the "d", which could be shorthand to indicate "children" rather than "Child" and the clerk was actually going to give the name of the father following the "of" , but then just wrote went away, which indicates they weren't necessarily baptised.

There is an entry higher up the page for 4th April, which just says "went away" but there is no further information there, so nothing can be entered.

Many thanks

Hilary

I agree it says James & Lucy Child ˆn (for children) of went away, so you only can index the given names and the date.

Thank you, Melissa, for confirming what I thought. I will do as you suggest.

    Hilary.
