How do a request a refilming of records?
I am looking for birth records for Budapest District V around January 1905. I see a conspicuous gap in microfilm records as there is only:
· Births 1901-1904 (jun.) – Microfilm No. 2161224 / Digital Folder #004429555
· Births (may) 1905-1907 – Microfilm No. 2161223 / Digital Folder #004429777
Can you tell me how I can request a filming of the missing records?
Steve

Hallo Steve: Sincere apologies for the unhelpful email address info. To your right there is in questions a contact support button this will lead you to telephone numbers to call.

Final Answer - response from support@FamilySearch.org:
“In requesting the filming of missing records ,you would need to contact the archivist or record owner and have them make the request as the acquisitions group only works with archivists and owners of historical records
Going forward, we ask that you contact us by posting your question or issue in FamilySearch Community (www.community.familysearch.org). After signing in to Community using your FamilySearch account username and password, post your question or issue by clicking on “Q and A” in the left column. Next click on your Category and then on “Ask a Question.” We also offer phone and chat support (seehttps://www.familysearch.org/help/helpcenter/article/contact-familysearch-support)."
As people suggested, it should be registered somewhere in "missing records" but it is such a small slice of time, in a small area of the world, I can understand why it might not be. Thanks everyone.

Being one of a large group of records https://www.familysearch.org/search/catalog/826277 you have to wonder if there was a reason the records in question were not microfilmed, such as being unsuitable for reasons such as damaged pages, too brittle, water damage, insect or rodent damage, or the records actually being lost.
Even if it was mistake at the time not to film this group of records, and they are currently suitable for screening, I wonder whether FamilySearch would consider it a good allocation of scanning resources to send a scanning team somewhere for a small number of records.
I would have to say I would be surprised if these records become available on FamilySearch.

These records are not on either list of destroyed registers that I know of (https://macse.hu/society/megsemmisult-akv.php and https://hu.wikipedia.org/wiki/Megsemmis%C3%BClt_magyar_anyak%C3%B6nyvek_list%C3%A1ja), although neither of those lists makes any claims to completeness.
It's possible that the missing records have been mis-filed under another district, but I haven't turned up any discussion about them on any of the Hungarian genealogy lists or forums.

Hi @MaureenE123, I agree with your position that it is unlikely they will film these and they possibly lost or damaged. However, I hope my question will initiate an informed response indicating where the records actually might be electronically, or at least give the reason why they are not there. As with @Julia Szent-Györgyi comment, I too thought they were misfiled, but I have searched endlessly online (and on microfiche tapes in the older days) in different districts within Budapest.
Unfortunately the support email address I was given will not allow be to initiate the question. Any thoughts of my next step? I certainly would like to reach the support team on this.

From the FS catalog entry I quoted above https://www.familysearch.org/search/catalog/826277, it says
GSU #2161223 items 1-3 with: Állami anyakönyvek, 1895-1952 / Budapest (Pest). Anyakönyvi Hivatal. VI. Kerület.
GSU #2161224 items 1-4 with: Állami anyakönyvek, 1895-1952 / Budapest (Pest). Anyakönyvi Hivatal. VI. Kerület.
Perhaps the records Steven is seeking could possibly also be in the 6th District, perhaps the boundaries changed? The catalog record for the 6th District appears to be

I looked through the 6th district records and did not find Lipótváros or Belváros.
Today's district 5 is a combination of the original IV (Belváros = downtown, inner city) and V (Lipótváros = "Leopoldtown"). District 6 (Terézváros) is one of the original districts from 1873 (when Pest, Buda, and Óbuda were combined into Budapest). In 1904-1905, it was still these original districts that were in force; the first redistricting wasn't until 1930 (and some of it didn't take effect for another decade after that). However, FS uses the modern districts for filing, so district 4 is Újpest; that's the next place I'd look for misfiled records from district 5.
I can't figure out why those cross-references are singled out like that in the catalog: multi-part films are a dime a dozen on FS. (Now, granted, as far as I can tell, the index-processing setup that assigns locations still hasn't accounted for them, so maybe that's why? Whoever did the catalog entries for BP civil registrations knew about FS's error-producing place-assignment routine and tried to do something to get around the problem?)

Wow, great detail on the history of the districts. The reason I am focusing on District 5 is:
István Bodnár 1905-1944, was born 5 Jan 1905 in Budapest to Matild Bodnár (from Tokaj), according to his Marriage certificate. Given there was no more detail than that, I have searched the online images for every district in Budpest for the period plus / minus a reasonable span (as they are ordered by registration not exactly the birth date). Not all districts have birth records (for some reason) whilst others do not cover the period (probably due to when the district came into effect). Only District 5 looks like they should have the records for the period in question, but clearly are missing.
Now it is possible I missed the entry in one of the district if the registration of birth was significantly delayed, or the records are not in order. My experience is that for Church records around Tokaj for István's predecessors show that records for Births, Deaths, & Marriages are usually on the same microfilm, restart several times (i.e. different books), with sets of retakes placed at the beginning of the film. I have not seen restarts happen in Budapest microfilms, so I do have some confidence.
PS: I am embarrassed to say that I had extended the search for every district in Pest-Pilis-Solt-Kis-Kun, without luck. This was done about 3-5 years ago so maybe some correction have occurred since.
PSS: In 1933, István lived in District VII according to his son's birth certificate. So on the bases that you live not far from where you are born, District V has added weight to check out.

From what I have seen this is incorrect information. You should seek advice from @N Tychonievich
