Pending message should not be wiped out when re-authenticating.
If I leave a FamilySearch tab open for too long and then try to use it, it refreshes the whole page. I assume this is due to credentials expiring and having to be re-authenticated. It's a small annoyance on most pages, but on messages it's really bad, because it deletes any pending message.
On multiple occasions I've taken time, perhaps too long, to write a message, and when I try to send it, it tells me it can't and then immediately reloads the page, and the message is gone. It's frustrating and bad user experience, as I have to rewrite something that may have taken me a while to write.

FYI
Welcome to the "Community.FamilySearch" Forum.
I am just another 'lowly' User/Patron ...
You are not alone ...
Most of us, at some stage, have experienced such ...
[ And, often, more than once ... ]
And ...
NOT only, in "User Messaging", in 'FamilySearch'; but, also, in many other places; where, some a amount of information/details, can be input (eg. "Life Sketch"; "Collaborate" - both, "Notes" & "Discussions"; "Reason Statements"; "Merges"/"Combines"; etc)
But ...
That Said ...
MOST of us, have LEARNT, by NOW ...
PREPARE such "Text", in a "Text Editor" (even, something; as, simple, as "Notepad"), other than, trying to "Type" such directly, into the likes of, "User Messaging"; "Life Sketch"; "Collaborate" - both, "Notes" & "Discussions"; "Reason Statements"; "Merges"/"Combines"; etc.
In other words ...
PREPARE such "Text", in a "Text Editor"; then , simply, "Copy"; and, "Paste", the result, from that "Text Editor", into the likes of, "User Messaging"; "Life Sketch"; "Collaborate" - both, "Notes" & "Discussions"; "Reason Statements"; "Merges"/"Combines"; etc.
That 'Workaround', works PERFECTLY fine ...
As an aside ...
Due to, "Security"; and, "Privacy" ...
I would humbly suggest, that 'FamilySearch' would NOT "Wave" (and/or, "Change"), the 'Time-out', just for ONE (or, even, a couple) of page(s)/screen(s).
Especially, when there is a PERFECTLY; good; and, acceptable, 'Workaround' ...
Sorry ...
Just my thoughts.
Brett
ps: But, that said, who knows, what will happen (ie. be available), in the future ... we can but live in hope ...

It would still be a help if a warning message along the lines of "You are about to be timed-out" could be displayed, with a link to opt to carry on. I find this on many websites I use (that need a sign-in). Of course, a problem would still arise if you took some time away from the device - unless a fixed "You have been timed-out" could be programmed to appear.
