I agree completely! I wish they would change it ALL back. I can't seem to pair down results well at all with this new page. It's not easy to use. I have a hard time finding records that I know exist and have easily found with the old search page. It's completely turned me off on doing research! FamilySearch please change it back!!!

You can limit results to a specific decade by using the filters.
1) Do a general search:
2) Click on an event under Filter Results, such as Birth, and click on the date range tab:
3) Pick the century then the decade:
4) Then click Apply:
This works best if you have selected a specific type of record to show. Before I checked Birth, Baptism, and Christening, the first results were records that did not have any birth information at all.
I checked out what happened if I set the record type to marriage and left the filter to born in the 1780s:
Because of the name and place I used, none of these actually have birth dates but scanning through a few pages, the date rage I see for the marriages is 1816 through 1864. Based on the birth date filter, it is giving me people who were between 27 and 84 years of age when married. Not too bad for the criteria provided.
