Person attached to wrong family
Henry Landers LBFP-FKW, was my great grand uncle. I believe I had him attached to my ancestors, but he is now attached to the wrong family. He is attached to Benjamin Franklin Landers L28V-YCC as his father. Apparently that family also had a son Henry born in 1862 in Arkansas. Direct descendants of Henry Landers LBFP-FKW are DNA matches to me and we all have reason to believe this Henry is the son of Major Landers LYTR-32S who appeared in the 1870 census in Sugar Loaf, Sebastian County Arkansas. Major Landers' name is incorrectly transcribed from the 1870 census as May Sandies. The children of Major for whom I found death certificates list him as Major Landers, Magor Landers, Lee Landers and just Landers.
Should I detach all the sources that belong to Henry, son of Major and reattach them?

Right now Henry Landers LBFP-FKW is a conflation of two (or more) persons. He has two 1870 census records attached, with different birth dates. Edit the Birth detail and you can see the 7 attached historical records do not clearly distinguish the two men.
There is also Henry Landers G4KH-9FP.
Both Henry Landers LBFP-FKW and Henry Landers G4KH-9FP have as their spouse Dovie Francis Thompson LZY8-281.
If I were to detangle this area of the tree I would probably start with Dovie and her children.

I created Henry Landers G4KH-9FP when I realized that Henry wasn't listed among my ancestors. I didn't realize at the time that the other ID, with all the sources, had been attached to Benjamin Landers. I'm almost certain that Henry Landers LBFP-FKW, along with all the sources except the 1870 census in the household of Benjamin Landers, belongs to the family of Major Landers. Dovie Francis and the children are correct. His year of birth varies from 1862 on his death certificate to Sep 1866 on the 1900 census.
I want the tree to be correct, but I don't want to anger anyone with changes. I have this family in my tree at ancestry.com. I just wondered if there is any specific verification needed to make such a change. I sent a message to one person who is a descendant of Benjamin Landers to ask about the mix up, but got no response.

Family Tree is great for detangling! Everyone can review all the evidence, and hopefully also come to a happy consensus.
Henry Landers still has two 1870 census records attached. So there are two Henry Landers close in age, born in Arkansas. Which one married Dovie? Perhaps neither one. Perhaps there are more Henry Landers born in Arkansas. The man who married Dovie was a single man from Arkansas living in Texas.
To solve this puzzle, look at all historical records of anyone named Henry Landers born about the right time and in Arkansas, or living in Texas.

The following article may be useful in untangling the records for the Henry Landers case.
Best wishes.
