This system is very difficult to understand and navigate
I am very supportive of Family Tree but it has become a very difficult process to make contact with the support team. I just spent 30mins trying to get to this point of actually being able to make contact. Every where I went I was shown click a link. Just took you to a document with no way to contact. I am sure many others will find this a confusing and difficult site to navigate. There may be many answers already in the system that can address some questions but when a person just wants to ask a question it is frustrating trying to get a response.
I just tried to reply to a person who sent me a message on family tree. After making up a detailed reply to her question was unable to see how to send the message. Very confusing.
My original purpose of wanting to make contact was to ask a question about the new 300 limit in the reserved list. I think a good idea. I have several thousands of names in my list and assign most of them to the Temple. At present I still have the ability to Unshare and do the work myself. Will the new system still allow me to unshare these names and do work myself. I am 100% in favor of sharing the work but do not want to lose the ability to unshare myself when names are shared with Temple system.
I think some some work needs to be done to make the Help centre more a help than a frustrating process to get the help required.
When people click help they are seeking answers. There should be a simple process in place.
- Be able to search existing data for an answer
- Be able to make contact to ask a question
- Submit an idea
Just keep it simple. A lot of people do not have the skills to navigate a complex page to eventually locate the link they want.
For me today it has been a confusing and frustrating time to get to this point of actually being able to submit a question.
When you click feedback it should just be a simple process to submit.
I do not want to go to a long process to get the process done.

B. Submit feedback.
That is all that is required.
When people are replying to other people and they have completed the reply always have a submit button so they can click on it and submit the reply.
People who design these pages are Tech savvy and think everybody else can see things as they do. The majority of people cannot see as they do and just find they get confused and frustrated with the page.
People just need to see simple links to click on
Things like :
Just simple easy to read and use. As soon as you create a page that people cannot easily navigate you have lost them and then they will become unhappy with the process.
Highlighted things like Submit make it much easier for people to use. I can usually navigate most pages but still get frustrated when things do not take you where you want to go.
Back to my original purpose to get an answer.
All that I wanted to do was to ask the question : Will I lose my ability to Unshare a name with the Temple if I share that name.
I just want to have the right to pick up that name again if the Temple has not printed the card or another researcher has reserved to do the work.
No problem with the 300 max in my reserved list. I just worry that if I share the name I will lose the right to pick up myself when in a position to do myself.
Very happy with Family Tree as a whole but some things need to be simplified. Maybe when a generation dies out most people will be computer savvy but until then it needs to be simple and clear the steps to follow.
Nothing bugs me more than not having a clear submit button to submit the detail I have just added.
I hate having to look for some hidden Icon to carry out that process.
Another thing that bugs me is the icon that is assisting in the writing of this message. I can do from my keyboard. I cant turn off.
