What is the best way to save personal memories for posterity?
For example I have a digital version of my mission journal and a digital version of my testimony. Currently I have uploaded these as memories under my own name. I plan to share my family search account login with my kids so after I die they can log in and change my status to deceased so these memories become visible.
Mia this the recommended way to preserve these memories or is there a better way?
Thank you

Dave, thank you for posting your question in this forum. Having gone through this process myself for my children and grandchildren I used the information in the attached knowledge article: You have uploaded these memories under your own name ( which is correct).
I added photos of my earlier years, places we have lived, have not added a journal to the stories in memories.
"Before you start
- Carefully read the Submission Agreement for questions concerning your content.
- The system times out after an hour. To avoid losing your work, remember to save often or you can copy and paste a completed story into the template.
- Drag and drop does not work for uploading stories.
- PDF files cannot be uploaded into the Stories feature, but they work well in Documents.
Steps (website)
You can upload memories from both the Memories section and the Family Tree.
Create a story from the Memories section:
- Sign in to FamilySearch.
- At the top of the screen, click Memories.
- Click Gallery.
- Click the plus sign (+) in the green circle.
- Click Create a Story.
- Enter your story and its title.
- Include any photos.
- Upload Photo lets you select from your computer files.
- Select from Gallery takes you to photos already on FamilySearch.
- The plus sign (+) lets you add more photos."

Hello @Dave Kane,
Here are a couple of articles from the Help Center which may answer some questions about what happens to your memories once you are marked as deceased.
Best Wishes!

There is also another pretty terrible thing (in my opinion) that I understand happens when FamilySearch learns of your death. All the documents, photos, etc for people who's records you created and who are marked living will never be seen by anyone. There is apparently no point when those "living" people would be determined to be deceased and your work on them would become visible. This includes any work you have uploaded to your own account. It is all just gone forever. A solution: make instructions that NO ONE mark you as deceased. That may kick the can for a while, giving enough time for someone to log into your account and download valuable information you have created.
