many errors - more than 20%

Once in awhile when reviewing, I've had to make many corrections. In one case the indexer indexed the wrong column of names. In another, the indexer either was not following instructions or was intentionally entering incorrect data.

Questions: When I see that there is obviously going to be well over 20% of errors, should I just send the batch back for re-indexing or go ahead and make the corrections.

When I make the corrections and there are 20, 30, 60, 70 percent of errors, does the Family Search system just automatically send the batch back for re-indexing after my submission? I don't want to waste my time reviewing and correcting those batches if that occurs.

Thanks, John

@John W. O'Brien . Regarding your specific question: "When I make the corrections and there are 20, 30, 60, 70 percent of errors, does the Family Search system just automatically send the batch back for re-indexing after my submission? I don't want to waste my time reviewing and correcting those batches if that occurs."

I want to emphasize, as others have said, that your reviewed and corrected batch (with greater than 20% corrections) goes to a second Reviewer, NOT to an Indexer for re-indexing from scratch. So, your correction work definitely is not wasted. That second Reviewer should have a pretty easy time reviewing your corrected batch.

Your question will be forwarded to the indexing team for review and assistance. You may be contacted by that team if they need more information.

Yes, If you decide to correct the Batch and there are 20%+ resulting corrections - the batch is automatically scheduled for another Review. This may help you decide whether to Return the Batch for re-indexing - with or without data and whether you use Help (menu)> Labs to indicate a reason for returning the batch.

We have the option of returning for indexing, reindexing or doing the corrections ourselves. It is completely up to you which you chose. Whichever you chose your work is appreciated!

The past few days while reviewing, the Tools for making it lighter or clearer on occasion is not appearing as if the top three symbols are only there now. It is ackward when things are too dark etc. Has it been reported recently? I hope it gets corrected.

Correcting and submitting the batch completed saves your changes and as you said it would be more than 20% of corrections- the batch would go to a second review.

As annewandering said Returning the batch for re indexing, you have the option to choose to delete or to keep the indexed data, the batch would go to be indexed again.

@Joyce_Steig What project are you reviewing? That could be a project specific problem. I have worked on several collections through the week and all the tools were available.

You should share a batch so others can see what you "aren't" seeing.
