Problems with children of Elizabeth Hemings LV3B-HW1
This record is not marked as read-only, yet I cannot make changes to it. Can someone with higher permissions take a look?
The children of Elizabeth Hemings need to be looked at. Several are assigned to the wrong father. Evidence is at the Wikipedia entry for both John Wayles and Elizabeh Hemings. Also at the monticello.org entry for Elizabeth.
While some of these children have no father listed, the six she had with John Wayles seem fairly certain. Also, if Elizabeth's profile is meant to be read-only, please clearly mark it as such.

Thank you for posting in the Community about the children attached to Elizabeth Hemings, LV3B-HW1.
We see two of the children are also attached to her and John Wayles: Martin Hemmings 977N-Hll and Lucy Hemmings 9S57-DJ2 . Those two could have their parent-child relationship deleted, by clicking on the Edit button beside the name, listed under Elizabeth and no spouse, because they are duplicates. We are not sure about the other children listed under that record. The article below may be helpful.
You may need to delete cookies and files. We were able to follow the delete the relationships process, but we did not push the 'Remove Parents' button at the end.
- Ctrl+Shift+Del (Windows users).
- Cmd+Shift+Del (Mac users).
We wish you success in making changes to the records.

Hi Sanra -
Hmmm.... Maybe I was doing it the wrong way. This morning I was trying to remove only one of the parents for both Martin and Lucy Hemings (that being John Wayles). When I hit the final "Do it" button on that process, Family Search said that it was unable to perform the action. I started the process from Elizabeth Hemings' profile, and assumed that this message meant her profile was locked.
Just a few minutes ago, after reading your note, I tried it again and it worked. The differences are 1) I started from the profile of each child and 2) I removed a set of parents rather than just one. I see that Elizabeth Hemings is still listed as their mother, and that is correct. It is their father that is uncertain - or at least, their father is NOT John Wayles!
Conjecture: A person assigned two sets of parents where one of them is the same in both sets cannot have the other parent removed from a set. Is that true?
I think there are still some problems around Elizabeth Hemings' children with other men. I was concentrating on John Wayles and did not pay much attention to the others.
Occasionally I clean out my browser data for Family Search. I think cookies are not such a problem. It is the saved JavaScript programs that have to be refreshed. I often see that when attaching a source that includes a place name, such as a Find A Grave link. Usually I can standardize the place name before finalizing the attachment, but sometimes that dialog is not presented. Clearing the JavaScript cache brings it back.

Hi William,
From the article above, # 7 is "If only one parent is incorrect, click Remove or Replace next to the incorrect parent. If both are incorrect, click Remove or Replace next to the child."
You should be able to remove the incorrect parent, but that will leave all the children listed under the remaining parent, and if the other set is correct, all the children will need to be removed to get rid of the single parent family list. Does that make sense? I am not sure I worded it so it can be understood.
