When and how are Family History Centers computers to be updated.

We were instructed a few months ago that we should be updating our computers every 2 weeks. Is this true? What are we to update? Where are the instructions to walk us through this? We no longer have a tech specialist for our FHC's 12 computers and the other 2 tech specialists are shared within the entire stake, as well us now. Both work full time. Thank you for any help that you can provide. I have gone through all the Computer Articles and updates don't seem to be addressed. Shirley Rogers

Shirley I am sorry you are having trouble finding the slides.

Follow the link below to the Tech Support Group, on that page check the upper right to see if you need to sign in also click the join button.

You will see Quick links, click on Articles and tools spreadsheet, on the next page click on Zoom Power point slides (line 222)

These slides are from the Zoom meet for November pages 3 and 4 have all the step by step instructions for twice monthly updates and weekly updates.

I hope these instructions help you to find the information you are looking for.

Technical Support has a monthly Zoom meeting which covers this information. It's the 1st Thursday every month. The slides are available in the Technical Support group.

Where are the slides that you refer to in your text, I cannot find them? Please send me the exact link to them, I have spent way too much time unsuccessfully searching for them. I want/need to know exactly what I am to update 2x a month on our FHC computers and the instructions for it. Thank you for reminding me about the monthly tech Zoom meetings on the 1st Thursday. I've put it on my calendar. Shirley

Shirley, I am a Temple and Family History Consultant. If you want to see what updates there is for you FHC computer.

Click on the "Window" picture on bottom left side of screen, move pointer to "Settings", click on settings

When window opens, Click on "Security & Updates", it may take it a while to load, but it will show you what updates there are available that may be downloaded and installed on the computer.

    Hope this helps.

After following the steps mentioned by Tom123, you will see a message that may say "you are up to date" or a similar phrase. As I have helped Stake Temple and Family History Consultants, I have found that statement to be a "Pinocchio" statement. Always click on the Check for updates box, check online (in blue) and optional updates. Once you click optional updates click on Driver update. If a drop down box opens, click on each small square box to the left of the update. Put a checkmark in each box and then click on updates. When everything is finished restart the computer. Finally check the ^ (lower right hand corner of screen) and see if there is a small letter b. If so click on it. Then click on the line that comes up. That line (of instruction) will be repeated larger. Underneath that line, click on the "update here" for Big Fix updates.
