This is not a real person and needs to be deleted. Census taker mistakenly entered Riley instead of Rina.

I have had this situation, where a child was created incorrectly from a census. I merged the profile with the correct child. In this instance you will need to change the sex of Riley then proceed with the merge to the correct child, just use good reason statements so those coming after can understand what you did.

    Hello @mommycita

Yes, the entry in the 1870 census is for "Riley," a male. Previous and subsequent censuses relate to a female, Rina or Rena. In this instance, you do have the option of editing the person's name in the transcription. You would give as the reason, "Wrong in the document."

Your next step would be to change the sex to male and then merge with the "real" person:

    Rina Jane McCracken 1859–1937 • L6RD-L5L

Merging the duplicate will resolve the issue and the 1870 census will thus move to Rina's sources.
