It's probably nothing you are doing wrong - just some setting or conflict in the computer at this point.
Question(s): So you have never been able to open a batch successfully?
Have you tried Resetting FamilySearch Cookies? You can do so here: https://www.familysearch.org/cookies
Once you do that try logging out and logging back in and opening a previously downloaded batch or returning all the batches and downloading a new one.
By the way, what operating system and browser are you using?
Have you tried shutting down the computer, then restarting after a few minutes?
