Sort search results alphabetically

I am fine with the new search with the exception of the presentation of the results being sorted by number of hits. The old search allowed us to click on the header and get the results sorted alphabetically. Now if I get 38 collections displayed, I have to carefully look for how many might be in North Carolina--OR look to see where FindaGrave might be. It has made research harder. I find no use at all for sorting by number of hits.

Likewise, I asked that the search results be sortable by dates. It's very frustrating to wade through many dates outside of my search criteria 20 or even 50 results at a time. If the Tabular Search results could be sorted by clicking on the column headings (think Excel) - I could very quickly determine if the records I wanted are in that group of 500 results...

For Alan's idea, that of sorting the Filter by Collection lists (like you used to be able to do), FS has recently added a search box at the top of the collection filter pane. This can help with tasks like "find all the North Carolina collections".

For Howard's idea, that of sorting the search results in a spreadsheet, that capability has been hidden on the Preferences tab of the More Options pane. Scroll down to the bottom to see the spreadsheet formats that you can download.

The alphabetical sorting has now been restored. Thanks FamilySearch.

Julia's comments were both very much appreciated. The Search Box on the results and the ability to download the result s through Preferences are fantastic.
