Unknown relatives
I am getting relatives added to my genealogy that do not belong. There is no proof these people are related to my great grandmother who was an orphan. All we know she was taken in by the Culbertsons and then the Hoods. There is no legal adoption records for Mary Emily though she appears on census records of both families. I have contacted contributors but they have no proof either.
What can I do about this problem?
Thank you, Kathy Woodman

@katw You are encountering one of the challenges of using a universal public genealogical family tree. The goal of Family Search /Family Tree is to have the best sourced, most correct genealogical site on the web. Unfortunately not all contributors adhere to that goal.
However, having said that, when you find errors you are encouraged to correct them, preferably attaching sources to prove that your corrections are valid and correct. If there are children added to wrong parents, in the Help Center you may use search term wrong parents or use this link How do I correct parent-child relationships in Family Tree? if it is an incorrect espousal relationship, user search term wrong spouse, or use this link A person in Family Tree has the wrong spouse.
Incorrect sources and memories may also be removed, which, if left attached may affect the algorithm of the system which may offer record hints based on the incorrect relationships.
