Again, I am just another 'lowly' User/Patron ...
[ And, I responded to your first/initial post in this "Community.FamilySearch" Form, on 26 October 2021 ... ]
I gather you mean the, 'FamilySearch "Home"/"Landing" page/screen, when you "log In"/access 'FamilySearch'.
And, by "... global interactive map link ... "
Question: Do you mean the World Map in "Search" (Records)?
IF, such is the case; THEN, please be aware. that 'FamilySearch' is MORE than just ONE Programme.
There are a number of "Parts" (ie. Sub-Programmes) to 'FamilySearch':
There is; but, not limited to ...
(1) Family Tree
.... A SINGLE "One" World "Tree" (for all of us)
(2) Search
.... ▬ Records
.... ▬ Images
.... ▬ Family Tree
.... ▬ Genealogies
.... ▬ Catalogue
.... ▬ Books
.... ▬ Research Wiki
(3) Memories
.... Associated with, those individuals/persons, in "Family Tree", of 'FamilySearch'
(4) Indexing
.... The "Indexing", the "Records", in 'FamilySearch', that become "Sources"; so that, they can be "Found"
(5) Activities
.... Making Genealogy/Family History "Fun", for ALL
(6) Temple Work
.... For Members of the Church ... which the PRINCIPAL purpose of 'FamilySearch'
(7) And, MORE ...
Now ...
That Said ...
I am not saying, that having a "Link", to the World Map in "Search" (Records), is not a bad suggested enhancement, far from it.
What I am saying, that there is, MUCH; Much; much, MORE to 'FamilySearch', than just the Records.
As such ...
Where do you 'Draw the Line'; as, to what, should; and, should not, be on the 'FamilySearch "Home"/"Landing" page/screen.
MANY; Many; many, Users/Patrons use a "Combination", of quite a few, of the various, "Parts" of 'FamilySearch'.
Whereas, some Users/Patrons ONLY use one or two, of the "Parts" of 'FamilySearch'.
It is very hard to please all ...
Just my thoughts.
I know that this does not help/assist; but, I hope that this gives you some more, insight; and, perspective.
Thoughtful suggested enhancement, certainly worth considering.

Or do you mean the Places map that you can get to by going to the footer of every page, clicking "Site Map," then under the Historical Records column clicking "Places"?
Or do you just want a link to Google Earth?
