FHPortal Proquest or Heritage Quest
I used Heritage Quest from the FHPortal. It does not work anymore? I used it through my library card from home last Wednesday the 27th of Oct, and now it won't work either. Have you pulled it? Is Ancestry involved? I have called them and get nowhere with them.
I want to teach others how to use it!
Can someone help me?

I am just another 'lowly' User/Patron ...
[ And, I have been a Staff Member of "Family History Centres" of the Church, for a number of Years ... ]
I was curious ...
I had never, 'seen'; or, 'heard' of, either, (1) "ProQuest"; and/or, (2) "HeritageQuest", on or used in conjunction with the "Family History Centre" Portal.
So I did some 'digging' ...
[ 1 ] ProQuest
About
"A one-stop shop for most business faculty, students, and working professionals…It combines many of the top business-oriented databases on ProQuest in a single portal with a slick and intuitive interface.”
[ 2 ] HeritageQuest
HeritageQuest Online
https://www.heritagequestonline.com/hqoweb/library/do/login
HeritageQuest Online is available to users of authorized institutions or to individuals using a username and password.
Powered by: "Ancestry_com"
"Ancestry Library Edition" is completely free! "HeritageQuest" is a large genealogy database developed by ProQuest and “powered” by Ancestry.com. This means that the layout and search tools look the same (or similar). ... HeritageQuest offers some resources that overlap with Ancestry, and many more that do not.
Now ...
That Said ...
Interesting ...
So, that is what that "Ancestry Library Edition", in the Family History Centres, of the Church, that we can never get to work, is all about/relates to.
I wonder, if that is the SAME, for the "MyHeritage Library Edition", in the Family History Centres, of the Church, that we can also never get to work, is all about/relates to.
It certainly pays to 'keep your ear to the ground' ...
You certainly learn something new every day.
'Thank You', for that.
Brett
ps: NOW, for some EXPLORING ...

Thank you Brett,
I hope you enjoy your exploring, I work at a small family history center, our portal works as long as there is a link to it, you might have to get a tech that knows how to connect with familysearch. We have an amazing tech that keeps pushing until he gets answers. I have known him personnally for years, so sometimes he pushes us to do the same. I pray that you will get those connections to work through familysearch. They are all library editions that pay sites share with the church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in hopes that we will want more and pay them for full use instead of a library account.
I have used Heritage Quest for years, but now that Ancestry.com has bought them from Proquest, I see changes happening and I hope if we all make enough noise that they will bring it back and share it with the FH Portal and our local libraries. I found a connection through Utah Valley Technology and Genealogy Group in Provo, Utah that is still letting people in through Utah library cards. So I persisted long enough to be able to use the free version for now, but that could change soon too. There is always change is one thing I have learned doing this work.
Don Snow was teaching a class on facebook on how to use the Heritage Quest Online free connections. He teaches through the UVTAGG group (I believe he started it), and he lives in St. George, Utah in the winter, so I called him as I was following his lessons, as he shared that a lot had been added to their website recently and he was so excited about it, and so was I.
Thank you for sharing, as I have used it for years, I did understand pretty much most of what you shared with me already. IF you need help let me know! I teach too.

Heritage Quest or Proquest are not listed on the FamilySearch wiki page "Family History Center Portal", which has been the link quoted recently by moderators when asked about sites available in Family History Centers. My Heritage-Library edition is however listed, if this is connected in any way with Heritage Quest.
@Mark McLemore How do I change the bold and font size?

Really ... 'Thank You" ...
It is going to be a little while; before, I can really start "Exploring" ...
I am not from "North America", let alone Utah ...
[ Although, we have been there touring around in a RV; and, we spent time in Saint George ... ]
Our Local "Family History Centre" is located in our Stake Centre; and, we have a number of great "Techs".
Unfortunately, like ALL the Wards/Branches in our City, our FHC has been "Closed" due to a "Lockdown".
Our State and City are just coming out of "Lockdown" (as, we are now over 90% 'Vaxed').
Our FIRST Sunday BACK, at Church, for some time, was this Sunday, just past; and, I asked my Bishop, to ask the Stake President (who is in my Ward - but, was rather preoccupied), IF/WHEN we could OPEN the FHC again - hopefully, SOON ...
I wonder what SORT of "Library Card" would be good outside of the USA ...
I wonder if there is any sort INTERNATIONAL reciprocation ...
Now ...
That Said ...
'Yes', certainly will be interesting to see, NOW that "Ancestry_con", has taken over ...
Those "Library" Editions of, "Ancestry"; and, "MyHeritage", just seemed to be useless, dead, links.
[ We could never, get them to work ... ]
Knowing a little more, makes them more intriguing ...
Only 'Time' will tell ...
If you do not mind, I will need to take a 'Rain Check', on your HELP, with ALL this later ...
You certainly have me interested ...
Again, 'Thank You'.
Brett
ps: When we do go BACK; and, the FHC is OPEN, we have to address ALL the things with the "New" FHC Portal
pps: I do not think that anyone has been there for MANY Months ... it is going to be interesting ...

Brett, when the Heritage Quest does come back it may not be usable in stake family history centers. I was an assistant director for 4 years at our center, and learned a lot because they the church thought we were in a stake center and said we didn't qualify for the FH Portal so that may be your problem.
If you live in the states you can go to a local library in your city or county and ask for a library card, as most libraries across the country were involved in using Heritage Quest Online. But that was when ProQuest owned it. Now that Ancestry has purchased it who knows what will happen?
We did finally prove we were not in a stake center and got more church support.
My Heritage, Ancestry, Findmypast and 3 others are accessed from home in a library edition that I and others use at home or at the center by going to familysearch.org/partneraccess We had to create our own username and password, but it does work and is giving us enough information that we can use it even with DNA projects.
These are big pay sites that have partnered with the church from other countries as well as ours. And I for one used to pay for Ancestry, and had tried My Heritage at one time. They have other sources, and can be a great research tool to teach to your members. At times I have also paid for "Findmypast". I am 65% British.
That means I have ancestors from England, Wales, Ireland and Scotland. and 35% from other countries.
TheFHGuide is a great tool, that you might not know of. We do all our training for consultants on it. It is free.
Best of luck in your research and your travels.

I am more than well aware, of what, you have proffered.
I have been, a Staff Member (and, Director, of some), in "Family History Centres", of the Church, for over x30 Years.
My current, 'Local', "Family History Centre", of the Church, is a Fully "Certified" "Family History Centre", of the Church, that has been operating for, MANY; Many; Many, Years, possibly one of the first in our Country.
'No', we are NOT even in "North America".
So, unless, there is any form of INTERNATIONAL reciprocation, regarding that "Library" Card, we are most likely, out of luck.
I was really, just interested, in those "Library" Editions of, "Ancestry"; and, "MyHeritage", for FHCs.
Whereas, the, "ProQuest"; and/or, "HeritageQuest", were just a curiosity, on my part.
'Thank You', anyway.
