Hi !

I would like to upload a new version of my Family Tree with a gedcom import, either updating the current one or deleting it and creating a new one.

It should be quite an easy thing but I can't find the right way to do it !

Thank you in advance for your help !

    Welcome to the "Community.FamilySearch" Forum.

    I am just another 'lowly' User/Patron ...

    The inference, that I get, from your post, is that you are referring to:

    (1) the "Uploading" of, "New", GEDCOM Files, into; and/or,

    (2) the "Deletion", of "NO LONGER" required, GEDCOM Files, from,

    .... [ As, we CANNOT "Edit" any "Existing" GEDCOM Files ]

    the "Genealogies" Part, of 'FamilySearch'.

    Being: "My Uploaded Trees"

    https://www.familysearch.org/tree/import/files

    FYI

    IF. that is the case; THEN, 'Yes', as far as I am aware, there DOES seem to be some sort of Problem/Issue.

    Another User/Patron, the other Day, indicated that they were having Problems/Issues, with a couple of GEDCOM Files, STUCK in the Process of "Loading"; and, they could not be accessed, to even "Delete".

    Unfortunately, this "Community.FamilySearch" Forum has just gone through a Major "Change", in Format, just about 5½ Hours ago; and, MANY previous "Posts", CANNOT be accessed currently; as, they are still trying to find the right 'Place', for them, to be put.

    I will give it until Tomorrow; and, 'see' if I can locate the post, to which I refer.

    I am sorry, that I cannot be of any more direct help/assistance, just at the moment.

    I will try again tomorrow.

    Persistence ... 'pay off' ... I finally found it ...

    Here is the particular post that I was referencing:

    Now ...

    'Category' = FamilySearch Help

    HOME > FAMILYSEARCH HELP > FAMILYSEARCH ACCOUNT

    My uploaded trees still processing

    https://community.familysearch.org/en/discussion/107260/my-uploaded-trees-still-processing

    https://community.familysearch.org/en/discussion/107260/my-uploaded-trees-still-processing

    In my humble opinion ...

    I seriously think, that there may be sufficient grounds, for the "Moderators" [ ie. 'FamilySearch' "Support" (Personnel) ], to take BOTH, your post; and, the other post, that I have just referenced, into the Workings of 'FamilySearch' "Support", for the matter to be referred, to the Area/Department, in 'FamilySearch', that manages and is responsible for, the "Genealogies" Part, of 'FamilySearch', for further investigation.

    But ...

    That Said ...

    That is just my humble opinion ..

    I know that this does not help; but, I hope that this gives you some, insight; and, perspective.

    @CyrilleGeffray

    We used your helper information to access your Family Tree, and clicked on Search, then Genealogies, scrolled down and on the right clicked "Submit Your Tree", and found your GEDCOM named Arbre Cyrille Geffray ready to view. We are enclosing the article link about the comparing process. Click the link below:

    We wish you success in working with the GECCOM.

    I believe you will find updating using a GEDCOM file quite cumbersome and time consuming. I believe that syncing with a personal data management system like --- ancestral quest, roots magic or Legacy might be a more effective way for you to update and keep you contributions current in Family Tree. You can find information on each of these software systems at the bottom of most pages of Family Search by clicking on the link entitled "Solution Gallery". Free versions are available which I believe could do what you would like to do in a much more effective manner.

    @Brett . @Sanra @gasmodels .

    Thank you for your help, and the tips.

    I deleted the previous version, and I managed to do the import of the GEDCOM. For a next time, I will definitely try the comparing process...

    Some data is surprisingly missing, with few first names missing or a few people, when the import on other sites like Ancestry worked well... I don't really understand why 🧐. I may have to do systematically the comparing process, but it is quite heavy and not smooth at all!

    Have a nice day.

    Hi, Sanra!

    Could you let your tech people know that the Gedcom uploading seems to be getting stuck in the "processing" phase again...never completes the process...

    Thanks!

    Annie
